Pels Law attorney Maria Leonard Olsen is a member of Phi Delta Phi, the oldest legal organization in continuous existence in the United States, predating even the American Bar Association. It is an international legal society founded in 1869 to foster scholarship, civility, and ethical conduct in the legal profession. Phi Delta Phi is considered among the world’s most prestigious professional organizations. It promotes the highest standard of ethics and professionalism in law schools and the legal profession.
Phi Delta Phi celebrates academic excellence and embraces the finest attributes of professionalism and scholarship. Maria was selected as a law student in 1986 at the University of Virginia School of Law for having “shown [herself] companionable [and to have] manifested ability and industry in legal study. Integrity, service, and excellence in all facets of human experience are considered factors for membership.”
With a total membership of more than 200,000 people, members of Phi Delta Phi include five U.S. presidents, two U.S. vice presidents, 14 Supreme Court justices, and numerous members of Congress, Cabinet members, and ambassadors.
